I was lucky enough to attend this mini-colloque !!
“Si la dualité onde-corpuscule est une des bases de l’interprétation de la mécanique quantique, elle peut aussi se manifester à l’échelle macroscopique. Durant ce mini-colloque seront présentées les propriétés observées dans des systèmes macroscopiques, ainsi que quelques-unes de leurs pendants aux échelles microscopiques. Un des objectifs est d’identifier les analogies et les différences entre ces deux types de systèmes.”

by any chanche, was Carlo Rovelli there too?
cheers
corrado
He was not a speaker and I did not recongize him among attendees …
ok, thx.
don’t you think people on QLG should get interested in dotwaves?
and viceversa too?
Well, I am not that fluent in “Gravitation quantique à boucles” 😉
well:

there are video lectures in english, to have a full math description, let alone some hints on the weltanshuung behind it.
the latter is better explained in the book “La realtà non è come ci appare”, which has not been translated to english yet.
I will recommend you reading the other book “Seven Brief Lessons on Physics”, where some of the weltanshuung is introduced.
that book is mostly valuable for the “physics idiosyncrasies”: in XX century we had general relativity VS quantum mechanics, today it’s strings theories VS quantum loop gravity.
and I’m still playing “the rabbi’s wife”, a Rovelli’s methaphore: a rabbi had to decide upon a litigation; he listened to the first guy’s claims and told him he was right. so he did with the second, but his wife jumped in saying they could not be both right
as an hobbist, I’ve been thinking for 20 years now that 2 scientific theories cannot conflict with each other (incompatible axioms, incompatible weltanshuung, just like win vs mac) AND be BOTH right at the same time.
one can be true and the other wrong, viceversa or both wrong (indeed we evolved GR vs QM to QLG vs ST), but not both right.
right?
PS: don’t be scared of all that ancient philosopher’s mess, in the books. IMHO, we need some reinassance-like go-back-to-greeks, but he picked the wrong one…
cheers!
